The Gold Coast Light Rail is the sole light rail system in Queensland, serving key transport corridors along the Gold Coast Highway. As a critical piece of urban infrastructure, the network integrates advanced signalling and train detection technology across more than 18 signalised intersections, requiring robust, compliant cabinet systems to support traffic signal controllers, signalling cables and sensor networks.

Client reached for our support as previous supplier had let them down and works have to be redone, on numerous occasions. The project requirement was to supply 3 x Node Cabinets for the latest stage of the Gold Coast Light Rail. This required 3 x fully fitted-out cabinets, which also included the installation of free-issued equipment from our client, Downer. On completion of cabinets, a Factory Acceptance Testing regime was carried out with Downer and TMR (Transport Main Roads) to enable cabinets to meet the highest quality standard and meet the required regulations.
PROJECT PROCESS & PROTOTYPES
The cabinet assemblies were delivered in accordance with approved plans and wiring diagrams, utilising Queensland Government Type Approved cabinet specifications. As the design was aligned to established standards, a prototype phase was not required, enabling efficient production while maintaining full compliance with regulatory and performance requirements.
